The "amazing" Ramsey DARE Idol event is now the amazing - AWARD WINNING - Ramsey DARE Idol event. On April 29th, 2009, DARE New Jersey and the New Jersey DARE Officer's Association presented a plaque and award to Ramsey DARE for their pioneering work. The award is not only in honor of the event, but the bravery, pride and talent of our young participants. Congratulations to the hundreds of kids and parents that have made this event what it is!
Over 100 contestants tried out this year, each of them demonstrating an amazing amount of power and pride. The judges have narrowed that amazing pool of talent down to eleven star-studded finalists.
The regional popularity of this event has resulted in previous students being whisked away to headline major events like Ramsey Day and others. Ciara Ashley Bosh, Kelly O'Keefe and Mary Kate Kelly, each previous winners of DARE Idol, have all performed in Atlantic City and our Season IV winner -Bridget Scanlon- sang the national anthem at the Wizzards Exbibition basketball game.
This fame doesn't come close to overshadowing the real triumph of the DARE Idol legacy. Over two dozen former finalists, and nearly seven hundred previous contestants can testify to the empowering experience of the DARE Idol process. All contestants, good singers and not-so-good singers, receive conspicuous recognition for their accomplishment. All contestants receive a one-of-a-kind T-shirt advertising their participation. All contestants participate in the final show and all contestants are rewarded with a hearty dose of self-confidence.
